Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education reviews efforts to enhance institutional efficiency

Muscat: The Board of Directors of Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education, in its first meeting held today in its new formation, reviewed the competences, roles, activities, and strategic projects of the Authority. This reflects its efforts in enhancing the education quality assurance system and elevating performance levels in educational institutions across their various stages.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mahad Said Ba'Owain, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Authority's Board of Directors.

The Board also reviewed the internal regulations of the Board of Directors, which organize the Board's work, its competences, and decision-making mechanisms, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of institutional work and achieving the Authority's targets.

During its meeting, the Board approved the Authority's estimated budget for the year 2027, after reviewing its most prominent pillars, programs, and future projects, in a manner that supports the implementation of the Authority's plans and strategic priorities.

Furthermore, the Board was briefed on the Authority's strategic plan for the period 2026-2030, along with the strategic directions and objectives it encompasses. These seek to develop the education quality assurance system, enhance institutional efficiency, and raise the level of services and initiatives provided by the Authority to keep pace with national directions and Oman Vision 2040.

The Board also reviewed the briefing report on the results of the school performance evaluation for the second semester of the academic year 2025/2026. The report included the most prominent indicators and results achieved within the framework of applying the national system for evaluating school performance, alongside the efforts exerted to enhance the quality of school performance and improve educational outcomes.

Additionally, the Board was briefed on a report regarding the project for the Authority to obtain international recognition from the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). The report covered the procedures and executive steps accomplished in this project, and the significance of this recognition in enhancing the Authority's institutional standing and consolidating its presence at the international level in accordance with the best global practices in the field of education quality assurance.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board emphasized the importance of continuing the efforts aimed at developing the education quality assurance system in the Sultanate of Oman. It also stressed the importance of supporting strategic initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving the Authority's targets and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes in alignment with national priorities.
