ABA Oman International School Celebrates Class of 2026 Graduation

Muscat: ABA Oman International School proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, honouring the achievements, aspirations, and journeys of its graduating cohort of global citizens.

The ceremony was graced by His Highness Azzan bin Kais Al Said, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Etlaq Spaceport. A leading figure in Oman’s emerging space sector, he previously advised the National Space Programme and founded the National Aerospace Services Company (NASCOM). He also serves as President of the Oman Olympic Committee and the Oman Golf Association, with a strong commitment to youth development and sport. In his commencement address, HH Azzan reflected on the unpredictability of future pathways and the importance of time as a defining advantage for young people, emphasising that effective time management enables ambition and opportunity to grow. “As you embark on your next chapter, remain curious, courageous, and committed to making a positive difference in the world,” he exhorted the cohort.

In her address to the graduating class, Puja Khimji, Chairperson of the ABA Board of Directors, reflected on the remarkable journey of the graduating class and the enduring impact of an IB education, drawing on Maya Angelou’s words: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” “Graduation is a moment filled with pride, gratitude, and a little letting go. Today, we celebrate not only what you have achieved, but who you have become. An IB education is about more than academic success; it is about developing curiosity, integrity, and a sense of responsibility to others. As you leave ABA, carry forward the friendships, experiences, and lessons that have shaped you, and continue striving to make a positive difference wherever life takes you.”

Craig Williamson, Head of School, reminded graduates that success is defined not by titles or possessions, but by character and impact. He said, “This milestone is a celebration of achievement, perseverance, growth, friendship, and possibility. As you leave ABA, remember that success is defined by who you become and the impact you have on others. The world needs your courage, empathy, and resilience, not just for your own success, but to help make it better.”

Simon Walker, Assistant Head of School and High School Principal, highlighted the transformative role of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in shaping globally minded graduates. He said, “This is a time to reflect on the journey that has brought you here and to recognise those who have supported you along the way. The IB Diploma Programme has challenged you to think critically, act with compassion, and engage with the world beyond yourselves. Dream boldly about the future you want to help create, and carry forward the values and communities that have shaped you at ABA.”

Representing 68 students from over 30 nationalities, the Class of 2026 reflects the international-mindedness and academic rigour at the heart of an IB education. Notably, 12 students completed their full K–12 journey at ABA. Valedictorians Angela Jabbour and Sai Srujan Chilukoti reflected on the sense of belonging that defined their experience at ABA. “Coming from different backgrounds, we found strength in our diversity, built lifelong friendships, and grew in a community where everyone is welcomed, valued, and connected. Through academics, the arts, athletics, service, and leadership, we learned that success is earned through perseverance and hard work. We are deeply grateful to the parents, teachers, and staff who guided us and believed in us throughout our journey.”

Students were also recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions to school life as part of the ceremony. Oluwatamilore Ogunwale received the International Understanding Award for his commitment to intercultural understanding and global mindedness. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Gold Award was awarded to Anant Nambiar, Jack Bramley, Noor Husain, and Quinten Groen, recognising their sustained commitment to service, skills development, and adventurous journeys. Excellence in athletics was also celebrated, with Jack Bramley named MESAC Athlete of the Year, Quinten Groen receiving the Male Senior Athlete of the Year Award, and Lucy Ritchie earning the Female Senior Athlete of the Year Award. The inaugural Contribution to the Arts Award was presented to Mohammed Al Shaikh in recognition of his creativity, commitment, and contribution to the arts throughout his high school journey.
