Natural gas production in Oman tops 13bn cubic metres

Muscat: Oman’s production of natural gas, including domestic production and imports, witnessed an increase of 2.5 percent, reaching 13.744 billion cubic metres by the end of March 2026, compared to 13.40 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2025.

Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that associated gas production decreased by 2.2 percent until the end of March 2026, reaching 2.97 billion cubic metres, compared to 3.36 billion cubic metres, for the same period in 2025.

In contrast, non-associated gas production (including imports) increased by 3.9 percent to reach 10.77 billion cubic metres by the end of March 2026, compared to 10.37 billion cubic metres for the same period in 2025.

Natural gas consumption in industrial projects increased by 3.1 percent to reach 7.36 billioncubic metres until the end of March 2026, compared to 7.14 billion cubic metres for the same period in 2025.

Gas consumption in power plants rose by 12.9 percent to 3.53 billion cubic metres by the end of last March, compared to 3.12 billion cubic metres for the same period in 2025.

The NCSI data also showed that gas consumption in oil fields (including losses, meter discrepancies and shrinkage factors) decreased by 8.8 percent to reach 2.79 billion cubic metres by the end of March 2026, compared to 3.68 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2025.
