Izz Pharma pharmaceutical manufacturing plant inaugurated in Nizwa

Nizwa--- The "Izz Pharma" pharmaceutical manufacturing plant was inaugurated today in the Industrial City in Nizwa, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, with an annual production capacity of 20 million units of intravenous solutions.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.

The inauguration of the plant represents a qualitative addition and a national achievement that supports the healthcare sector in the Sultanate of Oman and contributes to enhancing pharmaceutical security by meeting the local market's needs for solutions and essential medicines in accordance with the highest global standards.

Saif Khlfan Al Hassani, CEO of the plant, emphasized the project's importance in advancing the national pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and embodying the strategic partnership between the public and private sectors. He noted that the selection of Nizwa city underscores the inclusive nature of economic development across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

For her part, Balqis Saud Al Makhmari, Director of Enablement and Investment at the Ministry of Health, explained that the plant supports national directives to increase the localization rate of pharmaceutical industries in the Sultanate of Oman to 30 percent by 2030. She affirmed that the Ministry is moving forward with streamlining procedures and activating advance purchasing policies to enhance investor confidence.

She also pointed out that the medical industries sector in the Sultanate of Oman is undergoing a tangible transformation; the number of operational pharmaceutical and medical plants has risen to 20, producing over 2,000 product lines and exporting to 32 countries worldwide, with an additional 18 plants currently under construction.

The Izz Pharma plant is located on a total area of 20,000 square meters in the Industrial City in Nizwa and has been equipped with state-of-the-art production lines and technologies to ensure product efficiency. In its future phases, it aims to expand into regional markets, in addition to its role in providing specialized employment opportunities for national cadres in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing, management, and operations.

The Minister of Finance, the patron of the ceremony, along with the attendees, conducted a field tour of the plant to familiarize themselves with its components, including the various production stages and quality laboratories. They received explanations regarding operational processes and the technologies used in the production of intravenous solutions.
