Salalah: The third annual Scientific Research and Innovation Forum opened at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Salalah today. The university organised the event as part of its efforts to strengthen scientific research and showcase the contributions of students and academic staff across various fields of innovation.
Dr. Yasser bin Mohammed Al Yafei, Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Research and Innovation, stressed the importance of supporting scientific research and embedding a culture of innovation in the academic environment. He highlighted achievements in partnership, entrepreneurship, innovation and technology within the university’s postgraduate and research sector.
The forum programme included a visual presentation of the university’s key research and innovation activities, along with three scientific lectures: “Transforming Innovations into Entrepreneurial Projects,” “Enhancing Scientific Research Productivity with Artificial Intelligence,” and “Research Collaboration: From Idea to Impact” — which examined the role of research partnerships in advancing research outcomes.
The programme also featured the opening of a student projects exhibition as part of the “Together Towards Innovation” competition.
At the closing ceremony, Mohammed bin Ali Al Amri, Shura Council member representing the Wilayat of Mirbat and chief guest of the event, honoured distinguished researchers and winners of the “Together Towards Innovation” competition in both the university and school categories, along with those who contributed to organising the forum.
