Muscat: Royal Hospital has secured Platinum level accreditation from Accreditation Canada International for 2026 for the second consecutive time, reflecting its strong commitment to quality healthcare and patient safety.
The hospital previously achieved Gold level accreditation in 2016 and 2019, followed by Platinum in 2023, and has now renewed the top distinction—demonstrating sustained institutional excellence and the continued development of its clinical and administrative systems.
The Platinum accreditation is awarded after a comprehensive evaluation of clinical governance, risk management, patient safety, leadership effectiveness, continuity of care, and continuous improvement. The assessment also reviews performance indicators, patient experience, interdisciplinary integration, and compliance with evidence-based healthcare standards.
Amad bin Khamis Al‑Araimi, Director General of the hospital, said the achievement reflects the collective efforts of medical, nursing, technical, and administrative teams, noting that a culture of quality has become embedded in daily hospital operations. He emphasized that renewing the Platinum status proves that excellence is a sustainable institutional approach rather than a temporary milestone.
Al-Araimi added that the recognition strengthens public confidence in the hospital’s specialized and referral services and highlights its ability to keep pace with global healthcare standards. He also noted ongoing efforts to expand digital infrastructure, improve medical supply chains, enhance specialized team readiness, and strengthen training and professional accreditation programmes.
Meanwhile, Suad bint Salem Al‑Ismailia, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care and Director of the Quality and Patient Safety Department, said the accreditation followed extensive field reviews and evaluation meetings across departments.
She explained that achieving the Platinum level reflects the effectiveness of the hospital’s patient safety and quality systems, including evidence-based policies, incident reporting and analysis, proactive risk management, and patient and family engagement in care.
The milestone further strengthens the position of Royal Hospital as one of Oman’s leading specialized healthcare institutions, supporting the continued improvement of health services in the Oman.
